Hey my readers,
I am sorry for so long gap. But, I was busy with some of my personal issues. So, today, I am like to share a review of a novel written by Amit Shankar. The novel tells about ups and downs of "Corporate World".
Here it goes.....
Synopsis: The story revolves around Virendra
Vikram Singh (VVS) and his aspiring dream from Web Link (a small company) to
CommTech (a world of MNC). Soon his dreams shattered on the very joining day,
when the company files for Chapter 11 (a case of bankruptcy). In a way the
storyline projects a real portrayal of corporate corruption, and how he
estrange himself between his dream, love and hypocrites of the corporate world
and ultimately his self discovery.
Review: The transition from Udaipur to Gurgaon, focusing on the corporate life, & its pressure are what the book made its beginning.
Review: The transition from Udaipur to Gurgaon, focusing on the corporate life, & its pressure are what the book made its beginning.
The
story is about a small town person, VVS who moves to Gurgaon to join a big
company with lots of dreams in his eyes.
However, the day he joins the company, the Co. Files for the Chapter 11
or Bankruptcy. The story projects that when the leaders are only focused on
their personal gains without thinking about the betterment of the company, the
company is bound to collapse, but with such collapse the dreams of many, the
livelihood of many also collapse who was actually working sincerely and
professionally.
While
you read the corporate line, the protagonist falls in for the charming flat
mate leaving his wife with his parents in hometown. Soon he realizes that the woman
was on the verge of personal-professional relationships like him and somewhere
they both end up with a big hurt and loss. According to me, the sub plots of
the novel of cyber crime do not have any link to the main story and this can be
avoided.
The
story caters among the parent-child issues, small town-big city issues,
man-woman relationship, love hate relationship between co-workers,
mentor-mentee relationship and the world of Banas in feudal Rajputana, but
rather leaving at surface level it could have taken into much deeper. The
relationship of Sandy (mentor) and that of VVS (mentee) is also another and
very interesting angle, as the protagonist is in full grip of his mentor and
manipulates him in total. Later on, when the mentee finds out the conflict
between his and his mentor’s thoughts, he still bends on his mentor’s word. However,
in the end he does explode, without actually finding out what goes on a
person’s mind when someone else controls his actions. Here you get a feeling of
distance watch as you go with the lines of the story.
Amit
Shankar’s Chapter 11 will be a definite read for the people in the corporate
world. This book will definitely act as a first step to look into the
corruption in the corporate world. Moreover, focus on how to manage oneself in
such situation….
