Oh Daddy!........... No
The scream within is deep and silent
I am bad
Oh isn’t she pretty! Would you like to use her?
I am not seen. I am not heard
I am the family toy
Watched.Used.Left
Born female. Used child. Tormented creature.

The above mention lines are of a child who has been sexually abused during her childhood days.

CHILD ABUSE is the physical and emotional mistreatment of children. A Government Commissioned Survey has found that more than 53% of children in India are subjected to sexual abuse.

UNICEF survey report shows…
·        50% of children - physical abuse
·        88.6% - physically abused in families

Approx 15% to 25% of women and 5% to 15% of men were sexually abused when they were children. Indecent exposure of the genitals to a child, sexual contact against a child leads to child sexual abuse.
NEGLECT a child during his\her childhood days also responsible for child abuse. PHYSICAL ABUSE like striking, burning, choking in a child is very common.

A UNICEF report says, From 4th October 2005 - 30th  September 2006, Reachers found 91000 cases of NEGLECT.

PSYCHOLOGICAL\EMOTIONAL ABUSE is very hard to define because it doesn't only affect a mind of a child but it also creep into the physical abuse or harm to the child.
Child abuse is very complex to understand and leads to child prostitution and child labor. However, the NGO’S estimates indicate that roughly 12.15% of the prostitutes are child prostitutes.

According to official sources estimate 17.36 million are indulging in child labor, which is against the Rights of the child. Reason behind both child prostitutions and child labor is illiteracy and poverty. EFFECTS of child abuse leads to psychiatric problems, anxiety, depression. A 2006 study found Child Sexual Abuse (CSA) strongly related to adult depressive symptoms. Group therapy, play therapy and art therapy are the process to bring out child from such trauma. Thus, child abuse is an evil in the society.

Article 24 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights stated:-

1) Every child should have right without any discrimination.
2) Every child shall be registered immediately after birth
3) Every child has the right to acquire a nationality.

In addition, many governmental organizations and non – governmental organization like NGO’S work of child care and protection all over the country.

So, come together to say:

… Children are the soul of a good society with tremendous power and not the element of food…
