An increasing number of rape and molestation cases force the women of today, to think twice about a solo trip. Women travel to different places because of a business trip, educational meet or just to have fun. Unlike men, women travelers face a lot of problems when they move out of their comfort zone. That does not mean you will stop traveling and will not pursue your dream.

Today, I will share some safety measures for all you women travelers. These measures help me a lot when I travel alone.

Risk assessment: It is better to have an assessment of the risk factors that you can face when you are alone in an unknown land. Get the details of the destination hat you are planning to visit and what are current situation of the place. It will help you take genuine measures before traveling to that particular place.

Self defense items in your handbags: You must keep the small and foldable knife, mid-length rope and peppermint spray in your handbag. These self defense items will keep your attackers away from you. If you find yourself in a bad position, then you can use these items to save yourself.

Note down the local police station number- Once you reach your destination, look for an emergency police station number and note down immediately. It will save you from sudden danger in a different place.

Change your look: If you are on the streets of a new place, dress up very normal and do not carry too much cash. Your appearance should be normal and if anyone asks you “Are you alone”? Say. “No” straightaway. It will help you from future risk in that particular city.

Safety in hotel: When you are in the hotel room, ask for a room which is near the elevator and in the 1^st floor. Do not choose a room near emergency exists.

Traveling in cab: Sit confidently and do not take out the local map of the place. You must research on the route beforehand or use GPS app in your Smartphone. It will keep you safer than anything else.

My dear lovely Maa,

It was 27^th September, 1987 when I first met with you crying out loud so that you can take me in your arms and embrace me with all your love. For me, you are my comfort zone where I can rest my body and talk for hours. I am blessed to have you as my mother. The rules and principles you taught me are indispensable and still works today though I am a married woman now.

You never showed extra pamper and spoon-fed me during my growing age and I am grateful to you Maa. You make me a self-independent, confident girl and I can take care of myself in any situation. It is your confidence in me that make me so strong in life. Even if I cry, or breakdown in any situation I can again stand up and face the reality of the world. Maa, did you remember?-One day when I was coming from school and it was so hot outside that you want me to wear light clothes in the house, but I wanted to wear heavy dress. You got so angry that you make me wear 17 dresses and like a “fat cat” I had my lunch after that. Ha ha ha…I know you remember and you must be smiling now. Within 10 minutes, I understood why you said me to wear light clothes and stay relaxed during summer. After so many years, it only bring giggles on my face.

You never express your care through words, but your action says everything. In another incident i.e. in my cousin’s marriage, I could not take part because of my graduation exam and when you asked “what I ate?” I told you the truth of PG food, but later on my cousins told me that you were crying silently and you did not ate the menus of the marriage. A Maa can only make such sacrifices. I accept, that I did not have a friend like relationship with you, but your honesty taught me to become an honest person. When I had a first relationship in my life, it was you whom I told first and never lie to you and it was “you” who told me whether the relationship will work or not. Today, I am lucky that I follow your words and understand how is our society? Though lately.

I cannot believe, I was away from my blog for such a long time. During this long gap I faced many situations in my life and today, I will share one such situation with all my readers.

Anger is not an emotion...It is an entity that grows instantly when something goes wrong with us. I share a quote of Swami Vivekananda which says that anger makes you a slave of a person who creates vibration in your life. Showing anger in a situation is not a wise decision. it can ruin your Present, Future and all your relationships around you.

If you are angry with someone or with any situation, then controlling your mind is a major step that you have to take in your life. You have to win the world with love and happiness and not with anger.

In the past, my anger forces me to react in a situation and this reaction lead to negative things. Right now, I am a person with full confidence who can control my anger in any situation and handle heated situation more confidently

I work on my anger and realized that it is better to Response than to React. Both are different from each other and if you understand the difference, then you can easily cope up your anger.

When a heated situation arise and someone who is close to you says a sentence or word that hurts you, then you must give a response to the situation and avoid the heated words. Reaction to the heart breaking words or sentence can worse the situation more and hamper your relationship.

Ideologies of two people in a discussion can never be same and that is why you should have control in your words and points of the discussion. Whenever I face heated conversation, I try to response in the situation or in worst case I walk out from the conversation.

If you stop the conversation for a small time, then you can have more valid point to say and take more rational decision on the topic.

This is not an one time activity, but it is a practice. After all, "practice makes a man perfect".
I can assure you that it is tough, but nothing is impossible in our life...

Marriage: Differences are the Compliments

Today, my marriage has become 6 months old and first heart touching words I heard from my husband is “You look tough outside, but actually you are soft inside… like a Coconut”

I pounce back “Me a Coconut”…errrrrrrrrr. But, jokes apart, I truly smiled inside that how a new person in my life understands me so well. I think that is why it is called BETTER HALF.

These 6 months are really the happening phase of my life. When a girl enters into a new family as the bride, she has many responsibilities. Didn’t I sound stereotypical? I cannot help because even my parents teach me these words. But, clapping with one hand is not possible. So, responsibilities come from both ends. That is where; my husband opens his arms for me. It takes time to understand a new family, the strength of a family and most importantly shortfalls of the family.

Every girl is an individual before she is a wife or a new member in the In-laws family. In-laws making her comfortable in the new family encourage her to appreciate the family members and vice-versa. My husband always provides me the space, which I deserve. As individuals, we are totally different to each other. Still, we are taking lovely efforts to understand deeply.

I think it is good to be different as an individual. In that way, you know the strength and weakness of each other. The reasons are simple:

New difference, new growth- Talking about the same topic will bring boredom at certain times. But, if you have two different topics, then you definitely share more knowledge. I like to talk about romances while my husband is too practical. Sometimes, it irritates me, but later on his practical knowledge helps me to take strong decisions for myself and my dreams.

Opposite attraction is strong- Difference in view leads to conflicts. The question is not who wins, but how we meet these challenges and get success in our relationship. Each day brings something new in our relationship. Certainly, attraction of opposite personalities always works. (Well, god’s grace it is working in my case.)

Balance in married life- Understanding in married life come if you understand your partner. I am a girl with too much life, friendly, energetic, impatient and great dreamer. Well, my compatible husband is calm, patient and practical. Initially, it takes time for us to understand each other. But now, that we know each other’s persona we are in a magical journey called MARRIAGE.

In the matter of values, we are like-minded people who live simple life with a positive outlook. Now, whenever there are any differences between us, we are clear to sort the problems sooner.

During her early days, her poor condition turns her into a prostitute and she is only earning member of the family. The name behind the success of Aashiqui 2, Raaz 3, murder 2, Woh Lamhe, Jannat… is Shagufta.

She is a well-known face of Bhatt Films. She is Shagufta Rafiq. The article also reflects her struggle to know her real mother, her childhood dreams. The necessity of livelihood and poor condition force a girl to become an escort of different men. Isn’t it shocking? I wonder, how many girls in this world desire to become a prostitute? No one, it is a hard fate and bare reality of the society.

In the words of Shagufta, “Men love to have coffee with her, chat for hours. But, when it is about marrying her, everyone step back.”

No one feels the pain in her, her eyes reflect her pain. She also has the right to love someone, marry a man and have children too. But, the society did not give the permission. While she was in Dubai, she met a man who loves her unconditionally. However, God played with her and take away the man from her forever. (He is dead)

You have money, house, good to eat and everything that makes you a happy person. I think love is very important in one’s life. If you have hands to hold you, you can overcome all the pains. Love is not the burden of expectations. Love is to share the moments of life, both good and bad.

In India, there are so many cases of dejection, prostitution and force marriage. Some girls are the subject and some girls are only an object. Can we say we are Independent?

Work routine will help you complete your work on time. Fix the hours of your work and give a hint to your family about your working hours. Therefore, nobody comes in and disturb you.

Productive timing for work

Many of you do not like to spend the night hours in your assignments. So, you can choose few hours during daytime. Be loyal to your working hours at home and complete your work.

Throw your stress

Do not panic when your laundryman did not come to take clothes. You take a short of 10 minutes break and meet your laundryman to give the clothes. This way, you can reduce your tension.

Cooking time

Oh! Your mother-in-law loves food that you cook. Then, use the flexible time for cooking. You will remain fresh in mind and can cook well. These days, mother in laws are also supportive and share your work ambiance with her. After all, she will not kill you.

Do not become a boring host for your guests. They come here to spend a few days with you and your family. So, keep them busy and do not let them feel boring. Stop checking your Email when you are with family. This will hamper your family relationship. When you are over with your working hours, you enter into the world of family. So, be loyal to your relationships.

You are assigned to new projects within stipulated time. Let your family members know about the time limit to get more support. So, you do not feel guilty to your client and family.
